The panic pulled back a little, not much, but a little. There was no chair, so I sat flat on the floor and unzipped the boots and stripped off the hose, putting them against a wall, so no one would stumble over them. He blinked up at me. I turned around and stared blindly out into the kitchen.
I wasn't sure exactly what he was thinking, but at least it wasn't sad or angry. You sure? Yeah. I don't- I held up a hand. I'd rolled him.
